Build* Company Overview

Build* is dedicated to the promotion of the building and construction industry with a key focus on support and development of sustainable building.

This is achieved by connecting businesses with the general public through our online information portal and providing trade support through business to business networking and other marketing activities.

Build* offers a diverse range of listings, comprehensive information and integration across all sectors of the industry. Networking groups and individuals from varying sectors to increase awareness; introducing growth opportunities, promoting trade apprenticeships and training, advancing new technologies and the promotion of sustainable building, are key areas where Build* has been able to assist the Building industry from both a public and trade perspective in both commercial and residential applications.

The most important factor to remember is that Build* is not an advertising based organization. It is a marketing and networking company with a team of people in every city of operation whose job is to cultivate and maintain alliances and links between government organizations, industry groups, companies and individuals for the sole benefit and support of Build clients.

History:

Build* started in 2006 with the development of the BuildAdelaide portal. Following a great deal of research into the Building and Construction Industry it was determined that there was a real need for an online portal that provided comprehensive information on a range of product and services.

While at this time many companies operated without websites there was a general swell of interest and a realization that the internet was quickly developing to become as important a tool of trade as the mobile phone.

In 2007 BuildAdelaide introduced the Display Home Section, an application which enabled the public to search through all display homes online. Display homes can be searched by builder, display village or house title, with the title link clicking directly through to the specific page on the Builder's own site.

2007 also saw the introduction of BuildEco, featuring articles and information on environmental products and services, with links through to educational institutions and government departments.

Early 2008 BuildSydney went ‘live' and the Build* group began to expand their networks and furthering interests in sustainable building. Networking companies with an eco focus, Build became involved in the inaugural Sustainability Drinks introducing traditional building companies and building service industries to sustainable products and their benefits.

In 2009 Build* worked with the Dept of Economic Trade and Economic Development to develop Clever Green Connect. Clever Green Connect offers new and emerging green technologies the opportunity to exhibit and present their products and the benefits to key industry players.

Today Build* continues its focus on networking and promoting sustainable building and is branching out into other states including Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane, etc.

Build* Online

Build* Online is an information portal offering comprehensive information about all sections of the building and construction industry. Each Build* site is geographically specific as by its name i.e. BuildAdelaide, and offers comprehensive listings and information suited to each particular area.

Given most building purchases are long term commitments and can incur significant costs, most buyers will research thoroughly on the internet prior to visiting showrooms or making a purchase.

Build* Online Structure:

The structure of each Build site is identical apart from the data which is specific to each city.

The categories are:-

Directory

The Directory incorporates thousands of listings categorized into 23 major categories.  Each category is then divided into multiple sub-categories. Listings incorporate basic contact information, email address, website, and public notes which may include images and video. Listings can also feature icons representing industry organizations or accepted forms of accreditation.

Articles

Articles are written by Build's marketing department and incorporate images and links which can quickly refer the reader through to further information, company videos, contact details, or other specific information. Articles and Ideas is divided into 25 categories which cover key areas of building, renovation, and landscaping.

Adverts

Advertising is available on the Home Page, throughout the Display Home section, Trade section, or individually selected subcategories within the directory. Home Page adverts also appear as generic advertising throughout the directory where there is no specific advertisement.

Display Homes

The Display Homes section is a searchable area incorporating all of the builders who have display homes and the villages where these are displayed. Display Homes can be searched by village, builder or by the name of the home as well as a refined search which allows you to search by region, size, block type, number of bedrooms, or price.

House links take the viewer directly to the page representing that particular home on the builder's own site.

Councils

Councils are listed in alphabetical order and incorporate basic contact information as well as direct links to Planning and Development, Waste and Recycling, and Environmental information.

My Project

This area is currently under development and allows for consumers to upload photos and information pertaining to their own project. They can be ‘Before and After' photos, or ‘Step by Step' images, along with relevant information.

This section will also allow the consumer to answer a series of questions which will provide information about any key areas of interest or support that they may require in relation to their project. This information will allow us to provide Build clients with potential buyers of their product or service.

My Project clients will also be able to participate in annual awards which will recognize the quality and/or stature of their project. This will also be able to be used as testimonial type evidence in support of the supplier/s.

Trade Only

The Trade section is entered via a login which protects wholesale businesses, or those who would prefer not to have contact with the public. The Trade Directory is divided into 22 categories and over 350 sub categories, which are specific to the Trade, and therefore quite different to those in the Directory of the main site.

Marketing

The Build* marketing plan includes face to face marketing, social media, traditional advertising, public and trade promotional events.

E marketing

Build has a unique data base of email addresses thus allowing e marketing campaigns to target selected markets

Build also has an electronic newsletter - Build Connect - which is regularly sent to its data base. This is used to feature specific companies seeking a wider audience for their products and services

Networking

Build* is intrinsically linked to the industry through their connections with trade organizations, government departments, commercial and residential construction companies, industry service and product businesses, as well as being active participants in various industry functions.

Build is continually working to build and maintain relationships across all sectors of the building and construction industry. The value of these relationships has been seen in the synergies resulting from past introductions.

Promotions

Build* is fortunate enough to have a unique relationship with major national retail stores allowing for face to face promotions at store level. Our promotions team are located at these national retail outlets to hand out Build* promotional material.

Advertising

Falling sales in traditional media, and dwindling attendances at Home Shows and Expos indicate consumer's today research online. However Build* has run traditional advertising campaigns through the Sunday Mail and Australian Radio Network as well as online advertising through Google and other independent site links.

Social Media

It is widely accepted today that Social Media sites such as Twitter and Facebook are used as regular sources of information and recommendation. While print and traditional media users dwindle, social media sites continue to flourish providing up to the minute news, ‘experts' opinions and live chat.

Both BuildAdelaide and BuildSydney utilize Twitter as a means to interact with groups and individuals who have an interest in property, renovating, building and eco living. Uploading regular updates both BuildSydney and BuildAdelaide link tweets about specific products and services through to articles and client information located on the Build* sites.

Both sites have over 300 followers and this is growing daily.

Why work with Build?

Industry based, Build* understands where your product or service fits and how best to introduce or promote each product to achieve maximum benefit.

Build* Online is the only information portal dedicated to the building and construction industry, specifically targeted to its local area on a city by city basis, networking and supporting the local businesses in each location.

BuildAdelaide has, for example, 8,000+ unique visitors a day searching for building services and products.

Build* is acknowledged by both government and industry associations as being a key component of the building and construction industry.

Eco Grid

Eco Grid offers new and emerging green technologies the opportunity to exhibit and present their products and the benefits to key industry players.

Eco Grid is a networking event run by Build and supported by the Construction Industry Training Board, MBA, HIA and Plumbing Industry Association. The concept is a regular mini expo where companies who have an Eco Product or Service can exhibit or simply attend to network with like-minded companies and organizations.

Generally 12 companies are exhibitors per event and 250 - 300 Companies and individuals from Industry, Consulting and Government can attend.

There are no speeches - it is all about networking.

There are no barriers to entry - simply an interest in Eco Products and Services.

Build often partner with Government Departments to promote these events because both organizations have no specific alliances - simply the desire to promote a better environment for our world and the facilitation of knowledge sharing.

Testimonials

Ductair Testimonial

BuildAdelaide has created some amazing opportunities for Ductair.

They have created a number of key services which have benefited our company.

Those services are:-

  • Public exposure of the importance of the insulation in air conditioning ductwork and specifically the fact that many systems offered in the marketplace simply do not meet Building Code of Australia standards
  • The creation of a check list which the public can use to ensure that they obtain comparable quotations for air conditioning systems
  • Networking on a business to business basis to facilitate introductions which have led to us receiving lucrative contracts we would otherwise not have gained
  • Their instigation of such events as Clever Green Connect has created a very strong industry networking group for companies with an Eco or Green focus
  • We recently obtained a significant research grant as a direct result of BuildAdelaide being able to connect us with the right contacts within Government

The services they offer vary depending on exactly where your company fits in the marketplace - our Company needs primarily business to business contacts - but we are well aware through our air conditioning contractors that Build's services can be tailored to suit varying degrees of business to business and business to consumer relationships

Ductair highly recommend any company associated with the building industry meeting with the Build Team to explore what they can do to assist your business

Testimonial AV Jennings

AVJennings Testimonial by Ryan Gazzard - State Marketing Manager

BuildAdelaide have developed a unique mix between internet marketing and building industry networking

I summarise their services as follows:-

  • They have created a web based search facility which focuses on a city by city information source. This is particularly important to companies who have different products in different States such as AVJennings
  • They have looked at marketing issues which do not work well in traditional media formats and created innovative internet search solutions - a perfect example is their Display Homes search which covers all of Adelaide's Display Homes for the top 40 builders. This means consumers can research every single home online and pre determine which homes they want to visit and the most convenient locations.
  • BuildAdelaide have shown great leadership in the area of Eco or Green Building. They recognised the growing importance of these issues to consumers and have spent a considerable amount of energy making sure that the main stream builders understand what is happening overseas and what is most likely to happen in Australia in the near future
  • BuildAdelaide have been a key player in the instigation of such events as Clever Green Connect with the SA State Government. These networking events are important to the building industry because it is a simple way to keep abreast of new products and technologies
  • The rapid emergence of new products in the building industry and the ability of companies such as AVJennings to be innovators requires companies such as Build Adelaide to create their business to business introductions programme to simply keep us fully informed

We are happy to work with and support BuildAdelaide in their unique quest to be leaders in network marketing on a city by city basis for the building industry

Interstate Links

The Build system is based on promotion and networking on a City by City basis.

However, Build is in the process of establishing a national network:-

Build Adelaide        www.buildadelaide.com.au

Build Sydney         www.buildsydney.com.au

Build Perth

Build Melbourne

Build Brisbane

Build Canberra

Build Gold Coast

Build Darwin

Build Newcastle

Build Wollongong

Build Hobart

Whilst the majority of companies have a single city focus, establishing a national network provides the option for companies to promote themselves selectively and/or progressively should they choose to offer their services outside their Head Office location.

This can facilitate partnership operations or stand alone representation in each City - with referral to the operators in each city or by a link back to Head Office.

We can work with you to roll out your business in each State
